The recently approved Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019, H.J. Res 31, contained $5 million in funding to support an additional 4,000 Afghan Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs), an advocacy priority for LSS/NCA. The bill, signed by the President on February 15th, also contains language directing the State Department to create and implement a system of prioritization for the processing of Afghan SIV applicants based on the threats they face, giving appropriate consideration to those applicants who, during their qualifying services, assisted in combat operations.
Thank you for supporting LSS/NCA advocacy initiatives. Continue to stand for refugees and immigrants by visiting our advocacy web page for further updates and needs.
