IRA Charitable Gifts

Have you taken your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) yet for 2018?

If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make a contribution to Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSS/NCA) directly from your Traditional IRA simply by instructing the plan administrator to make the transfer directly to LSS/NCA as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). You are allowed to transfer up to $100,000 a year to the charities of your choice.

Your gift will be transferred directly to LSS/NCA, will not be reported as taxable income and will count toward your minimal distribution requirements for 2018.

And, most important, your generous support will help sustain LSS/NCA’s programs by providing homes to unaccompanied refugee minors, mentoring and wellness workshops to vulnerable youth, and resettlement services to refugee families.

To learn more about making a donation from your IRA, call Christine Connell, at (202) 723-3000 or email Connellc@lssnca.org.

Remember, today is giving Tuesday and any amount counts! Give a onetime gift or set up reoccurring monthly donations at LSSNCA.org.
